It is not easy to control seizures in Nexmif patients. There is no special, dedicated drug. Polytherapy is mostly needed.
Most effective antiepileptic drugs reported, in various combinations as usually used in generalized epilepsies, are Valproate, Lamotrigine, Levetiracetam, Clonazepam and Etosuximide.
What to do?
Normally, seizures disappear on their own within few seconds or minutes.
Nothing needs to be done to stop the attack, just check that the person is lying down safely and is not injured.
It is important to remain as calm as possible, not to touch the person, especially not to open his mouth.
For seizures lasting more than 2 minutes, it is recommended to administer life-saving medications such as Diazepam or Midazolam, which will take effect within minutes, typically causing deep sleep.
